4th Quarter Learning

4th Quarter Learning

As we begin 4th quarter, I want to start by acknowledging that things this quarter will not be normal. School and work are going to look different for all of us. I know that school closures may cause stress and challenges for families, make it difficult for some students to engage in learning, and put strain on family dynamics. I encourage you during this time to lean into your kids and support one another by reading books together, engage in one of their passions or interests with them, cook a meal together, create and be creative together, and just spend time together. Wellington Middle School will do our best to provide structure, consistency, and learning tasks in these uncertain times. Thank you for your patience as we work through this rapidly changing dynamic of remote learning, and please do not hesitate to reach out if your family is in need of anything.

Wellington staff was hard at work last week brainstorming the best ways to engage, connect, and teach our students in this new remote learning format. As we launch in to our second week of remote learning, that will also consist of new content, we would like to share with you how we will be working with students this week and some resources that will be helpful at home. We are also continuing our work in connecting over the phone with all families at Wellington Middle School. If you are reading this, and your household did not receive a call from a staff member last week, please email kbenedic@psdschools.org. We are doing our best to support the unique situations that you all might be in.

This week, WMS teachers will be engaging with students in a variety of ways. Each teacher will be reaching out to your student(s) with the expectations for the week, and the learning platforms they might be engaging in. This could be, but not limited to online video tutorials, Google Meet opportunities with the teacher and other students, office hours for staff when students can connect directly with them, online learning and assessment platforms, and online blogs. We don’t ever want technology to be a reason why your student(s) cannot access content, so please give me a call if connecting to the internet is an issue. For more information about remote learning in PSD, including how to get tech support for using your student’s district-issued laptop, visit the Remote Learning for Students web page or email covidtechhelp@psdschools.org.
