Hello and welcome to 6th Grade Math at Wellington Middle-High School!
My name is Katie McWilliams, but you can call me, Mrs. Mac. This is my second year at WMHS, but my 12th year teaching. I am a product of the Poudre School system as I attended Boltz and graduated from Fort Collins High School. I attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where I got my bachelor's degree in Marketing with a minor in Spanish. I was a collegiate athlete and played volleyball all four years of school. After studying abroad in Mexico (Sí, hablo español), I spent a few years in sales and quickly realized the classroom was calling me. I had always wanted to be a teacher, so I went back to school and got my Master's in Education from the University of Northern Colorado.
I first taught kindergarten in a dual immersion program in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. After teaching there for four years, I returned back to Colorado and spent my six years teaching third grade at Harris Bilingual Immersion School. While at Harris, I also was our Math Instructional Coach, where my love for teaching math continued to grow. I am so excited to teach sixth grade and focus on the BEST subject ever....MATH!
My husband and I have been married for four years and have a wonderful daughter, Jordyn, who is two and a half. Fun fact: my husband proposed to me in front of my students! We live here in Wellington and are so excited to see this beautiful school open in our community.
We are going to have a great year learning and growing together!
